STEPS — Sustainable Tourism and Ecosystem Protection Strategies

Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research (ZMT) | 2025–present

Work Package 01 Lead — Applying NLP and machine learning to analyze policy shifts in sustainable tourism across tropical coastal destinations. Investigating how countries are reimagining tourism post-pandemic through the lens of ecosystem protection.

I developed the Tourism Ecosystem Protection Index (TEPI), an NLP-based measure that assesses how tourism policies articulate ecosystem protection. A key finding is that tourism policy attention to ecosystems appears driven by disaster experience rather than hazard awareness.

SEA-LIMITHS — Sea-Level Impacts on the Tourism and Hospitality Sector

Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship | Ca’ Foscari University of Venice & CMCC Foundation | 2023–2025

Led an interdisciplinary project on the economic impacts of sea-level rise on Italy’s coastal hospitality sector. Built a georeferenced database of 10,000+ coastal establishments integrating remote sensing, AI classification, and economic data. Applied spatial analysis, machine learning, and CGE modeling for vulnerability and adaptation cost estimation.

European Commission Grant No. 101106544.
